Had no idea this “argument” was still raging. I don’t object to the houses being Ayrshire Housing accommodation, nor do I object to the tenants. As I said at the top of this discussion, what I object to is the proximity of the properties/gardens and issues of being overlooked. Our garden is currently overlooked by one house and 4 flats of the same development however as the original building plan was changed, we had no say in these houses overlooking our property. To the Architects, Engineers, etc: Please consider the aesthetics of the new properties and the proximity to current properties.

If people buy the houses that was by choice the same as its by choice if you rent. Let people live where they want regardless of the size of their pay packet – everybody needs a home.

To be honest I think Mrs A does have a point even if it has been put forward in not the best way! Of course everyone is equal BUT I live in a 2 bed property in burns drive and my mortgage is 675 a month not the 350 mentioned thats a joke! Most of the people here are paying between 5 and 7 hundred a month! Which is why I think that she believes this is unfair! I myself have been in rented accommodation and quite frankly moved away from it because of an asbo family. Obviously not everyone is like that BUT it is understandable we have real concerns, Its not about the properties we dont object to them if ayrshire housing put in normal hard working people like ourselves and yourselves (although bit unfair if your paying hundreds less!) but its who they put in them we are concerned about. In fairness no objections to normal hard working people. The community are naturally worried with houses ranging from 100k to 280k I am sure you can understand.

I am upset by what mrs a said. I have a 4 year old daughter and live in lochside. You would be amazed at the amount of people who are not drug users, sadly there is the odd one. In my opinion, everyone who is anyone has the right to a good home. And we do have to pay rent as well but as said, it keeps the roof above our childrens heads.

Mrs A, I think your attitude is nothing more than sheer snobbery and jealousy. You are assuming that everyone who lives in rented accomodation is either a drug user, alcoholic or trouble maker. As a disabled single parent (through no fault of my own) to 3 children, I will never have the luxury of owning my own home. However, thanks to Ayrshire Housing I have a beautiful home in Monkton, suitable to my needs and those of my children. I take pride in my home and garden as do my neighbours. The only difference between us and you is that we don’t have any chance of losing our home in the current recession. We pay rent which is just as hefty as a mortgage but have the security that our children won’t be put out on the street. Let me tell you that is a wonderful security to have and no amount of “keeping up with the neighbours” can make up for it. All I will say is don’t tar everyone with the same brush. In the day and age of equality you should consider that if you were making these comments about us being different due to skin colour then you would be called a racist. Just because we don’t “own” our houses, it doesn’t mean we are going to disrespect yours!

mrs a, I hope that you never feel the harsh reality of being paid off from your job feeling low as you try to survive for your 4 kids fighting everyday to get a job then having the pain of selling your house as you can’t afford the up keep!! Going homeless and then you receive a piece of hope to put a roof back over your families head from Ayrshire Housing to rehome your family. I think you would take the opportunity to have a new home. As for paying your mortgage I’m sorry for the working residents like us – we pay full rent which is £350 a month which will probably be either the same or possibly more considering the recent mortgage rates and interest. I cannot believe your ignorance in this current financial climate.

I think the point is a lot of private house owners are spending a small fortune to stay here and absolutely love the place. Not sure it is fair to have Ayrshire housing here in fact I know of a few private owners who wish to sell up if the new tenants move in. Obviously everyone is equal but if that is the case then I hope Ayrshire housing is paying a high mortgage each month like we have to. Or maybe we should get them to pay our mortages and that would be fair for us. Like has already been said its not the houses that are the problem but who may end up in them. Yes I am sure a lot of falilies will be lovely but I am also sure a couple wont be! We have a lovely estate here and dont want it ruined by an odd one or two.

I am desprate to be housed as my family are homeless at the moment. I would love to be considered for a home like this. The people that are housed in them are ordinary people who deserve a fair break like everyone else. It is because of the area the new builds are located and because of the neighbours that people want to live there. Furthermore the private ownership is the reason most of us with big families cant get housed!

I am an ayrshire housing tenant, who is looking to move to a larger property, these houses would be ideal for me and my family, as for the concerns about the people that are put in these houses,I have never had a concern about the neighbours I have, and the new development has blended in well with the existing properties across the road, who are private homeowners and many are elderly.

The houses will look fantastic however the the problem is the people you put in them!! Think of the private owners in the area.
