New tenants and residents association launched in Lochside

May 12, 2008 | 3 comments

This evening saw the inaugural meeting of this new group which will ensure that Ayrshire Housing and South Ayrshire Council meet their commitments to the regeneration of Lochside. At a packed meeting in the Lochside Community Centre, a committee of 12 was elected with the appointment of the secretary having to be confirmed with the toss of a coin after a tied vote.

Ayrshire Housing was pleased to support the event which had been faciliated by the Lochside People and Place project team. Lochside People and Place is managed by the Ayrshire Housing group’s community development specialist, Ayrshire Initiatives.

In June, Ayrshire Housing will commence construction of 100 new houses to replace the recently demolished houses in McLean, Mackie and Gould Streets. Alongside this, South Ayrshire Council plans to upgrade the surrounding properties- both internally and externally.

  1. Any organisation that involves the residents in their plans is to be applauded. When people are included in decision making they care about their area.

  2. I live in near the construction site at Mclean Street. The Nelson team who are rebuilding it with ashleigh Construction are doing a good job, 10 out of 10 to them.

  3. 2 blocks Have been left in Mclean Street and 2 Gould Street, I think they should have been knocked down as well because with the new houses going up they will look out of place.
