Teeing off at Fairway View!

April 22, 2008 | 1 comment

Our latest development was officially opened today by Councillor Hugh Hunter, South Ayrshire Council’s Leader, at Fairway View, Prestwick. He said “I’m very pleased to open this much needed development of 12 houses or I should say homes. It is a pleasure to meet the delighted residents who are busy preparing to move in.”

The 12 house scheme is on the site of an old military aerodrome and adjacent to St Cuthbert’s Golf Course.

Councillor Hunter (centre right) presented Mrs Claire Taylor (centre left) with her keys. Claire is moving to Fairway view with her husband Raymond and four year old twins, Daniel and Callum. The twins suffer from cerebal palsy. We were delighted to be able to respond to a request from one of the Council’s occupational therapists and design a house especially suited to their needs. It includes a hoist system to aid the bathing of the boys as they grow.

The scheme is of 12 houses with a variety of house types suitable for both the elderly and families. It is built on land transferred to Ayrshire Housing from Miller Homes as a consequence of the Council’s affordable housing policy. The overall cost was £1.4m and its construction was supported by a Scottish Government grant of £900,000.

The houses were designed by Dr Roan Rutherford of Austin-Smith:Lord, architects and it was built by Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd who have their main base in Prestwick.

  1. These homes have been well worth the wait. The family in your article do a wonderful job and this house will just be the icing on the cake for them. The twins will just love it. Thanks to all concerned.
