Affordable Housing through the planning system

November 15, 2011 | No comments

We work closely with housebuilders to deliver the affordable housing components of many of the residential planning applications to South Ayrshire Council.  The Council has  a policy that 20 per cent of developments with 15 or more houses should be “affordable” . The  preference is that the majority should be for rent through the Council or a housing association.  Many of our recent developments have been achieved through this mechanism.

We have secured additional pipeline development opportunities at Ayr’s racecourse  and at Fisherton through section 75 planning agreements with housebuilders and the Council.  We are also in dialogue with housebuilders  aimed at delivering  affordable housing in  a number of  longer-term development opportunities.
