Ayrshire Housing is to increase its rents by an inflation only 2.7%. Taking effect on 1 April, this amounts to £2 a week for a typical two-bedroom house.
Paul Torrance, Ayrshire Housing’s Chair said “I’m really pleased that we have been able to keep the rent increase so low. It’s less than the figure that we consulted on with our tenants before Christmas. It also compares very well with other Ayrshire housing associations and the Councils. Last year, an independent survey of all our tenants confirmed that overwhelmingly they feel they get a quality service from us. We understand though the financial pressures on many tenants. We are working hard to deliver services efficiently so as to keep rents as low as possible over the long-term”.
The survey of our tenants’ views was by Ashbrook Research and Consultancy. They reported that 90% of tenants are satisfied with the overall service. More than 80% said that their rent represented good value for money.
