Ayrshire Housing has just submitted a planning application to build 22 flats and houses in Ayr. They will all be for rent. The site is on the junction of King Street and Limonds Wynd, close to the town centre. The association recently bought the site of the former Prince of Wales public house. South Ayrshire Council has agreed to sell the adjacent former school building to the association to create an enlarged development site. Consent to demolish the former school building has been granted. We have consulted with the two local tenants and residents associations . Both are very enthusiastic about our proposals. The proposed housing mix is
- 10, 2 bedroom flats
- 6, 1 bedroom flats
- 4, 2 bedroom houses
- 2, 3 bedroom houses
Full advantage is being taken of the southern orientation of the site. All the dwellings will have south facing public rooms. In addition, most of the flats will have a sunspace. It is hoped that construction will start in the autumn. The design is by John Gilbert Architects. Here are the Design Statement and a selection of the drawing submitted. You can make comment on our proposals to South Ayrshire Council.
